Light

Everybody who wants to design safe, ergonomic and healthy VDU workstations must have an eye for suitable lighting conditions. First and foremost it is about the processing of screen information and the accompanying reading of keyboard and documents. Thereby frequent sight changing between screen, keyboard and documents is associated. Furthermore the visual tasks of conventional office work have to be considered.

The quality of lighting and the visual design of the work environment are an essential condition for a flawless and fatigue-proof vision. These factors determine the wellbeing and the motivation of humans. A number of cachets describe the quality of lighting.

On the following pages the most important influences of light design on humans are described. The factors of lighting of VDU workstations are explained as well as principal terms of lighting design. Chosen links refer to pages with additional information
